Anti dust mite covers with a polyurethane coating, are they really efficient?
The goal of an anti-dust mite cover is to constitute a physical barrier between the dust mite allergens and the sleeper, in enclosing completely the allergenic particles of the bedding.

The polyurethane is a porous plastic material that is pasted on the classical fabric, in order to make this non proof textile to dust mites, a good filtering textile.

The dust mites have a size of 100 to 40µm, the larva of 10 to 30µm and their allergenic droppings and other wastes of 5 to 30µm.

Consequently, that is really important that dust mite proof covers filter all particles bigger than 5µm. The fabrics in cotton and polyester using the Texaal weaving process and the textile in Evolon, made of high quality microfibers, that ProtecSom uses for its bedcovers, offer this filtration capacity.

The polyurethane is not consequently necessary anymore. For an equivalent efficiency against dust mites, ProtecSom tightly woven covers offer the comfort of a natural textile and a long-lasting efficiency against dust mite allergens, even after several washes.

All ProtecSom bedcovers propose a filtration capacity better than the real needs.
